About Us
The Bristol Catholic Chaplaincy has been around in its current form since 1964, when the house was acquired by the Clifton Diocese. Since then a chaplain has been in permanent residence. Our home at 103 Queens Road is the centre for Catholic students studying at all universities in the Bristol area.
Each term the Chaplaincy has a full programme of opportunities for worship, formation and socialising. The Chaplaincy house also offers a limited number of en-suite rooms for practising Catholic students. For details go here: Chaplaincy | Clifton Diocese

The Chaplaincy is also home to CathSoc, the University of Bristol Catholic Society. Led by an annually elected committee, CathSoc runs regular events and formals for its members.
Symbol
The symbol of the Chaplaincy reflects both the mission and inspiration of our life and work.
The symbol of the ship represents the barque of Peter, the Catholic Church of which we are part. So too the ship is a symbol of our patroness, St. Catherine of Siena, who laboured tirelessly for the good for the Church. The ship also reflects Bristol's maritime traditions and can be found on many of the city's symbols. The word 'Veritas' (Latin: truth) represents all that we strive for; to come to the knowledge of the Truth which comes from God through our work and study. This was also the motto of St. Thomas Aquinas who is patron of the Chaplaincy. |
